Seismic Responses of Concrete Building Subjected to Out-of-phase Ground Motions

Seismic performance of a building is commonly evaluated by applying same design ground motions at each foundation. However, local soil conditions beneath likely vary, and these variations could result in out-of-phased the foundation locations. In this study, building’s responses during earthquakes were analyzed compared using out-of-phase motions. The 10-story, 90m-wide, reinforced concrete structure supported on isolated footings with tie beams. Dynamic time response analyses performed five earthquake records which scaled to spectrum for location Surabaya. modification factor, R, 8 was used. results indicate that use does not have significant impacts inter-story drifts; it results, however significantly higher column base shears beam axial forces those calculated
